Job Description: Frito-Lay HQ Engineering Summer Internship (2025)
This 10-week internship at Frito-Lay’s Plano, TX headquarters offers undergraduate engineering students a chance to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting within the Frito-Lay Engineering organization. The program aims to provide practical experience and develop future management skills.
Responsibilities:
Interns will work on one to three projects driven by the business’s yearly needs. These projects will span various phases of the project management lifecycle (initiating, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing). The work involves:
• Project execution: Contributing to projects within the engineering department, potentially across multiple areas.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Working with various supply chain functions and disciplines.
• Networking: Building relationships with peers and senior leadership (Directors, SVPs, etc.).
• Data analysis: Assisting in the analysis of engineering and operations performance metrics, tools, and processes.
• Time management & multitasking: Effectively managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Exposure to various areas: Gaining insights into processing, packaging, warehousing, automation, controls, information systems, capacity planning, innovation, productivity, sustainability, facilities, infrastructure, and national rollout teams.
• Intern council participation: Actively participating in summer internship activities organized by the intern council.
• Final presentation: Presenting key business learnings from the internship to the leadership team.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Highly motivated and technically curious.
• Proven leadership skills in academics and extracurricular activities.
• Experience in on-campus or off-campus activities (clubs, internships, co-ops, jobs).
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in unstructured environments.
• Strong results-orientation and ability to thrive in challenging situations.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Indefinite right to work in the United States.
• Expected graduation within one year of internship completion.
• Minimum GPA of 2.75.
Compensation and Benefits:
The hourly pay range is $21.50 – $40.19/hour, depending on factors such as role, degree, and location. The company offers the potential for full-time conversion after the internship, with a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, retirement plan, and more (subject to eligibility).
