Job Description:

This is a Pathways internship position located at the Center for Grain and Animal Health Research Unit in Manhattan, KS. The intern will assist in various phases of the research process, performing technical duties in a laboratory, field, or greenhouse setting. Specific tasks will vary, but the role involves supporting ongoing research projects.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be currently enrolled (at least half-time) in a certificate, degree, or diploma program at a qualifying educational institution. For a GS-05 level, applicants need to have completed 4 years of post-high school education towards a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Selection will be based solely on the level of education completed.

Physical Demands:

The position requires some physical exertion, including regular walking and bending. The duration of these activities may contribute to the demanding nature of the job. Some tasks may require agility and dexterity, such as exceptional hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks, requiring safety precautions due to potential exposure to contagious diseases, irritant chemicals, and outdoor work. The use of protective clothing (gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves) is mandatory.
