Job Description: Summer 2025 Engineering Co-Op – Power and Actuation (Chaska, MN)

Marotta seeks enthusiastic students for its Summer 2025 engineering internship program in Chaska, MN. Interns will collaborate closely with Marotta team members on a summer project culminating in a presentation. Opportunities for networking with other interns and employees through social and professional events are also available. Internships are offered across various engineering teams, including design, manufacturing, operations, systems, and software.

Responsibilities:

Design and Analysis: Design and analyze novel aerospace control components.
Documentation: Write assembly procedures, special processes, test reports, and other technical documents.
Sourcing: Search for component and special process vendors.
Fixture Design: Support design and validation of fixtures for assembly and test operations.
Compliance: Conduct product specification review and compliance analysis.
Training: Create training documents with verification tests.
Engineering Drawings: Review and create engineering drawings, focusing on tolerance stack-ups, design feasibility, product improvement, and specification compliance.
Design Reviews: Participate in selected Design Reviews to present design parameters.
Calculations: Perform basic trigonometry and solid geometry calculations as needed.
Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with other engineers in a team environment.

Required Qualifications:

Excellent mechanical aptitude.
Strong interest in Aerospace design.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (Pro-E preferred).
Excellent grades, particularly in core engineering courses.
Precision and attention to detail.
High level of system aptitude and knowledge.
Advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
US Citizenship (required due to contract stipulations).

Education:

High school through postgraduate students are encouraged to apply; majors in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Engineering, or equivalent fields are preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

The role involves both office and manufacturing/machine shop environments. Standard office equipment use is expected, along with appropriate safety gear in shop settings. The position requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds, and using hands and arms frequently. Visual, auditory, and verbal communication skills are essential.
