About the Cell Engineering Internship:
The Cell Engineering team at Tesla seeks a highly motivated intern to contribute to fundamental improvements in understanding battery cell function. This is a demanding, fast-paced role within a world-class team developing Tesla’s battery technology. The position centers on analyzing and interpreting battery test and image data. Responsibilities include:
• Data Analysis and Interpretation: Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends and patterns in complex datasets; creating dashboards and reports to illustrate findings.
• Software Development: Writing efficient SQL/Python code and complex queries for extensive datasets; developing software to improve workflows; automating analyses and creating pipelines using SQL, Python, and Airflow-based ETL frameworks.
• Collaboration: Working effectively with engineers to conduct end-to-end analyses, from data requirement gathering to data processing and modeling.
• Improving Analysis: Enhancing the robustness of automated analysis pipelines.
• Driving Recommendations: Designing tests and analyzing data to explore fundamental battery degradation modes and provide actionable recommendations to improve vehicle performance and quality.
Job Requirements:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Significant, demonstrated technical contributions to past projects.
• Programming experience with Python (preferred), MATLAB, and/or JavaScript.
• Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment.
• Familiarity with dev-ops tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, Redis).
• Experience with distributed computing (Spark/Hive/Hadoop).
• Experience creating data products and dashboards in Tableau, R Shiny, or D3.
• First-principles understanding of engineering concepts with relevant project/research experience.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects with complex requirements.
