Job Description: Data Science Intern
Job Purpose: The Data Science Intern will work on data science projects that drive strategic business objectives. This role involves using industry-leading analytical methodologies to manage large datasets, extract meaningful insights, and creatively solve business problems. Projects may involve domains such as classification, recommendation, search, NLP, or GenAI. The intern will be part of the Data Analytics team, supporting various functions including Marketing, Digital Commerce, Sales, Customer Experience (CX), Product Management, Corporate Strategy, Finance, and Pricing.
Job Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with multiple internal customers on projects and presentations.
• Identify opportunities to streamline process improvements.
• Take ownership of a project and assist other team members to support company initiatives.
Specific Responsibilities & Breakdown:
• 80% Solution Development: Design and develop algorithms and models using large datasets to create business insights; utilize predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences and revenue.
• 20% Communicating Results: Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical leaders and business customers/partners; present recommendations confidently to influence execution.
Qualifications:
• Strongly Preferred: Pursuing a Masters in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.).
• Required: Bachelor’s Degree In Progress.
• Required Experience: 1-2 years of experience in computer science or data science modeling.
• Required Knowledge/Skills:
• Prescriptive Modeling (Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Recommendation, Search, or NLP).
• Proficiency in Python or R.
• Strong knowledge in SQL.
• Proficiency in utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights that solve business problems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes.
• Ability to work in a team environment, quickly, and efficiently.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills.
• Highly motivated, flexible, and deadline-driven.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong planning, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
