Job Description: Engineering Intern (Guelph, ON)

This paid internship program provides a minimum of 16 weeks of hands-on experience, beginning in May 2025. The ideal candidate is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with graduation between December 2025 and August 2027. The role involves working in a fast-paced, team-oriented plant environment.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the plant, processes, and equipment through various projects. These projects may include addressing efficiency issues, collaborating with contractors, improving energy-related processes, applying reliability principles and practices, and enhancing plant processes and equipment.
• Collaborating with diverse cross-functional teams, including safety and environmental, maintenance, engineering, contractor, and operations personnel.
• Effectively communicating with individuals from diverse linguistic, educational, and experiential backgrounds.
• Learning to interpret and implement government safety and environmental regulations in alignment with company policies.
• Managing people, processes, and input/product aspects to implement solutions.
• Participation in company orientation and ongoing job performance assessments.

Work Environment:

The internship takes place in a physically demanding plant environment, requiring moderate exertion and involving various physical activities (bending, stooping, lifting up to 50+ pounds occasionally and 10-25 pounds frequently). Exposure to heat, cold, grain dust, and other conditions may occur.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Graduation between December 2025 and August 2027.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and cultures.
• Ability to complete a 4-month internship starting May 2025.
• High degree of initiative and resourcefulness.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous plant, production, co-op, or internship experience.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to job-related duties.
• Problem-solving and independent decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
