Job Description: Tax Intern – Global Mobility Services

KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join its Global Mobility Services practice. The intern will provide support to tax professionals, working with multinational companies and their mobile employees. Responsibilities include:

Tax Compliance and Advisory Support: Assisting with tax compliance and advisory services for multinational companies and their employees working internationally or domestically (state-to-state business travelers).
Collaboration with Professionals: Working alongside KPMG’s Global Mobility Services tax professionals and collaborating with tax and human resource professionals within multinational companies to manage global workforce tax implications.
Client Correspondence and Calculations: Preparing client correspondence and calculations on international assignment matters, including policy issues, cost projections, tax settlements, and tax reconciliations.
Expatriate Issue Analysis: Analyzing and tracking expatriate payroll, compensation, benefits, global mobility, and other assignment-related issues.
Reporting and Data Analysis: Preparing reports, analyzing data, and tracking global mobility tax compliance status and other assignment-related projects.
Technology Proficiency: Building capabilities in key technologies used for client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.

Qualifications:

Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree. Upon internship completion, additional academic credits must remain to complete the degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
GPA: Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
Coursework: Preferred coursework or concentration in Tax, Accounting, International Business, Economics, Human Resources, Finance, or Business Administration.
Knowledge: Knowledge of expatriate services, global mobility, and tax is preferred.
Language Skills: Foreign language skills are preferred.
Skills: Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude; critical thinking skills; proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook); excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; flexibility and adaptability as a team player; resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
Location & Travel: Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client premises as needed, potentially with short notice. Personal transportation is required.
Visa Sponsorship: Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship is preferred.
