Job Description: Security Consulting Engineer Intern

Who You’ll Work With: The Cisco Security Customer Experience (CX) organization. This team supports customers throughout the security solution lifecycle: from needs assessment and custom solution deployment, to optimization, application development, solution maintenance, and incident investigation.

What You’ll Do: As a Security Consulting Engineer Intern, you will:

Collaborate with customers: Participate in on-site design and configuration sessions with a mentor. Collect customer requirements to meet business goals. Work with the team to define business goals and requirements for integration efforts.
Support large-scale design: Identify and support large-scale design efforts for customer network integrations. Configure lab devices using templates for customer production implementations. Aid in analyzing and designing policies for Identity Services, Firewalls, Visibility Solutions, and Cloud-based solutions.
Analyze and improve configurations: Analyze customer configurations and provide feedback for improvement aligned with business goals. Evaluate customer logs or NetFlow data to advise on improvements. Learn and understand Security Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines.
Develop automation capabilities: Leverage programming languages (Java/Python/C++) and open-source automation platforms (Ansible/Chef/Terraform) to develop custom automation for customers using Cisco APIs.

Qualifications:

Education: Upcoming graduate of a technical degree or certification program (Technical Boot Camp, Apprenticeship, Community College, or 4-Year University).
Technical Skills: Knowledge of IT systems, networking concepts, TCP/IP protocols, network devices and applications, OSI 7-layer model, or code development.
Soft Skills: A desire and passion for Information Security and a willingness to learn. Ability to work well in small, dynamic teams and balance multiple responsibilities. Ability and willingness to collaborate across teams in the US. Comfort with ambiguity in technical projects. Self-motivation and ability to work on remote teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Legal Requirements: Able to legally live and work in the country of application without visa sponsorship.
