Job Description: Audit Intern

KPMG is seeking an Audit Intern to join its Audit Services team. This internship offers a chance to play an integral role in conducting financial statement audits, serving capital markets, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information. The role emphasizes objectivity, independence, and adherence to the highest professional standards.

Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively within a team to conduct financial statement audits.
• Contribute to the overall effectiveness of client operations.
• Develop an understanding of client-specific risks by reviewing financial results, external information, business trends, and client transactions (primarily for Korean clients or non-Korean companies requiring strategic Korean assistance).
• Prepare clear and well-structured audit documentation regarding client processes and technology systems.
• Execute and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances using established standards and terminology.
• Support the execution of high-quality audits through assigned tasks and professional client and team interactions.
• Utilize Data and Analytics (D&A) in the audit process, including data extraction and analysis. This involves using various technologies and tools such as AI, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI, and documenting related findings.
• Maintain KPMG’s respectful and courteous work environment through integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent.
• Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the relevant state (completion of academic credits required before starting as an Audit Associate).
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Bilingual in English and Korean with the ability to utilize both languages in a business setting.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred; experience with data analysis tools like Alteryx or Power BI is a plus.
• Knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting standards, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in various computer applications, particularly MS Office (especially Excel), and aptitude to learn KPMG Audit tools and client applications.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality service, strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills. The ability to exercise sound professional judgment, professional skepticism, and adaptability as a team player is essential. Leadership experience and project management skills are advantageous.
• Must reside within reasonable commuting distance to the office and have access to personal transportation (vehicle or public transport). Expect in-person work at a KPMG office or client site approximately three days a week, with potential travel and overnight stays for some client engagements.
