Job Description: Engineer Co-op

Cargill offers paid engineering co-op opportunities (at least 16 weeks) at their Georgetown, ON and Camrose, AB locations. The co-op program is designed to provide real-world experience and prepare students for their careers.

Responsibilities:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of plant operations, processes, and equipment through involvement in projects focused on efficiency improvements, contractor collaboration, energy-related process enhancements, reliability principles, and plant process/equipment upgrades.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including safety, environmental, maintenance, engineering, and operations personnel. This involves communicating effectively with individuals from diverse linguistic, educational, and experiential backgrounds.
• Learn to interpret and implement government safety and environmental regulations aligned with Cargill’s policies.
• Develop skills in managing people, processes, and inputs/outputs to effectively implement solutions.
• Participate in company orientation and ongoing performance assessments.

Work Environment:

The work environment is described as team-oriented, fast-paced, and hands-on. Cargill emphasizes employee engagement, inclusion, and innovation. Co-ops will gain practical experience on diverse projects, from system design and upgrades to plant drawing reviews and updates. The role involves physical activity requiring moderate exertion (bending, stooping, lifting up to 50+ lbs occasionally, and 10-25 lbs frequently), and potential exposure to heat, cold, grain dust, etc.

Qualifications:

Required:
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, graduating between December 2025 and August 2027.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and cultures.
• Ability to complete an 8-month co-op (May 2025 start in Georgetown, or January/May 2025 start in Camrose).
• High degree of initiative and resourcefulness.

Preferred:
• Prior plant, production, co-op, or internship experience.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to job duties.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, written and oral communication, and leadership skills.
