Job Description: Audit Intern

KPMG is seeking an Audit Intern to join their Audit Services team. The intern will work as part of a team conducting financial statement audits for capital markets clients. This role is integral in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information, upholding principles of objectivity and independence.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the overall effectiveness of client operations while maintaining high professional integrity.
• Develop an understanding of client-specific risks through reviewing financial results, external information, current business trends, and client transactions.
• Prepare clear and well-structured audit documentation concerning client processes and technology systems.
• Execute and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances using appropriate standards and terminology (under appropriate guidance).
• Support high-quality audits through assigned tasks and professional client/team interactions.
• Support the use of Data & Analytics (D&A) in the audit, including data extraction and analysis. Utilize technologies and tools such as artificial intelligence (AI), Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI; assist in preparing related documentation.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent.
• Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the office’s principal place of business (completion of required credits before starting as an Audit Associate).
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (ability to use both languages in a business setting).
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred; experience with data analysis tools (Alteryx or Power BI) preferred.
• Knowledge of technical accounting, financial reporting standards, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in various computer applications, especially MS Office (especially Excel); aptitude for learning KPMG Audit tools and client applications.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills; sound professional judgment and professional skepticism; flexibility; teamwork; leadership experience; resourcefulness; project management skills (a plus).
• Must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the office and have reliable transportation.
• In-person work at a KPMG office or client site (average of three days per week); some client site locations may require travel and overnight/extended stays (varies by office).
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without employment-based sponsorship (no sponsorship available).
