The Rolling Stock team specifically focuses on delivering products such as light rail vehicles, electric locomotives, diesel-electric locomotives, and passenger coaches. Their operations team ensures smooth running of various departments like employee health & safety, supply chain management, logistics, car shell welding, bogie fabrication and assembly, electrical subassembly, gluing, painting, and vehicle final assembly.
Rolling Stock Coach and Transit Internship
This 10-12 week internship is based in Sacramento, California, and offers the opportunity to work within the Coaches and Trainsets Department. You’ll be working alongside Project Managers on Coach and Trainset projects across various states and internationally, collaborating with suppliers and other Siemens locations in North America and Europe.
Responsibilities:
• Project Involvement: You’ll participate in internal and external meetings, work with Project Managers and Engineers on design improvements, technical documentation, Coach production, field modifications and test procedures.
• Ownership: Depending on your background and experience, you might be responsible for a sub project from start to finish.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Rising Junior or Senior: Pursuing an undergraduate Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical).
• Technical Aptitude: Strong technical or analytical aptitude, demonstrating problem-solving skills.
• Project Experience: Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
• Microsoft Office and CAD: Proficiency in these programs is expected.
• Communication: Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills.
• Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August.
• Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in the US without requiring employer sponsorship.
• GPA: A preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Leadership Potential: Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Industry Interest: Knowledge and/or interest in the rail industry.
Benefits:
• hourly Pay: $22 – $26 per hour, based on your projected graduation year (actual wage may vary).
