Disney Experiences is a division within The Walt Disney Company responsible for shaping the reputation of Disney theme parks and resorts. This internship opportunity will be within the Public Affairs organization, which focuses on reputational storytelling, media relations, and crisis management.
Job Description
Role: Communications Intern
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the development of communication strategies to protect and enhance the reputation of Disney Experiences.
• Write content for various external communication vehicles, including blog posts, social media posts, executive speaking points, media messaging, and more.
• Develop and design engaging visuals across a variety of mediums like infographics, presentations, short-form videos, and digital slides.
• Assist with photo and video shoots in support of content creation efforts.
• Facilitate media shoots with reporters covering stories at Walt Disney World Resort.
• Participate in media monitoring and analysis to provide strategic communication recommendations to Public Affairs executives.
• Demonstrate passion and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Qualifications:
• Required:
• Strong administrative skills.
• Excellent grammar and punctuation skills.
• Strong writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities while maintaining professional poise.
• Excellent collaboration and integration skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in basic computer functions necessary to operate in a Mac/MS Office environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
• Writing portfolio is required.
• Preferred:
• Disney parks knowledge/experience.
• Knowledge of AP Style.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Education:
• Recent graduate (within 6 months of graduation date) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field.
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Additional Information:
• This internship is a hybrid position. Must be able to provide a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace.
• The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 through June 2025.
• Must be able to work FULL-TIME hours (approximately 40 per week) for the duration of the internship.
• Must be able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.
