Government Relations Internship

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in promoting life sciences research and technologies. You will work alongside experienced lobbyists, contribute to lobbying projects, and assist with the company’s Political Action Committee (PAC).

Responsibilities:

Gain first-hand experience working alongside lobbyists: Learn the ins and outs of government relations through direct experience.
Contribute to lobbying projects: Assist with both U.S. and global lobbying efforts, playing a role in influencing policy decisions.
Manage projects: Take ownership of projects related to Thermo Fisher’s leadership in diagnostics, biomedical research, precision medicine, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and other science policy topics.
Support advocacy initiatives: Work with the U.S. federal government relations team to attend meetings, build relationships, and advocate for the company’s interests.
Attend industry events: Gain exposure to key stakeholders and gain insights from expert discussions.
Draft communications: Develop written and verbal materials for use in interactions with government officials and agencies.
Coordinate VIP visits: Help facilitate visits from government leaders and other important guests to Thermo Fisher facilities.
Collaborate on special projects: Work with other departments to enhance the company’s reputation and showcase its contributions to science and communities.
Complete a capstone project: Execute a Congressional Briefing, culminating your internship experience and demonstrating your skills.

hourly rate: Earn $22.50 per hour for your work.
Relocation stipend: Receive a $5,000 stipend if you need to relocate for the internship.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate student: Currently pursuing a degree in Political Science, Politics, or a related field.
Graduation timeframe: Expected to graduate between December 2025 and June 2026.
Previous internships: Previous experience in related fields is preferred, but not required.
Strong track record: Demonstrate integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity in your academic and extracurricular pursuits.
Passion for change: Be energized by the opportunity to make a difference and driven to achieve results.
Excellent communication skills: Possess strong interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.

Eligibility:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
