Job Description: Public Relations and Corporate Communications Intern
As a Public Relations and Corporate Communications intern, you will be providing support to the PR and Corporate Communications team. Your responsibilities will include:
• Research & Analysis: Staying up-to-date on industry trends and news, conducting research as needed.
• Content Creation: Drafting press releases, writing media pitches.
• Media Relations: Monitoring media inquiries, attending media prep calls and interviews, compiling media lists.
• Internal & External Communications: Assisting with communication efforts both internally and externally.
• Event Support: Assisting in planning both internal and external communications events.
• Project Support: Contributing to ongoing projects and team initiatives, providing support to other communications team members.
This internship has the potential to extend part-time into the fall semester.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify pitching opportunities and draft pitches.
• Compile and update media lists.
• Draft press releases.
• Monitor media for weekly reporting.
• Compile content calendars.
• Ship products to journalists/reporters as samples.
• Research trends, competitors, partnership opportunities, etc.
• Organize the PR team shared drive.
• Assist with internal and external communication efforts.
• Attend team meetings/brainstorms.
• Assist in planning internal and external communications events.
• Support monthly messaging guides.
• Fill image requests using internal database.
• Provide support to other communications team members when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Ability to work with others and cooperatively.
• Ability to communicate information clearly, concisely, and organized.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task while managing multiple deadlines.
• Excellent writing skills with knowledge of AP style.
• Strong organizational skills and experience with Excel.
• Interest in the food and beverage industry and a passion for culinary discovery.
• Familiarity with MuckRack, Meltwater, or Cision is a plus, but not required.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed (within the past year) a bachelor’s degree, Public Relations or Communications preferred.
