Job Description:
AI/ML Engineering Internship:
This is a 10-week, full-time internship that takes place from June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025. It is a hybrid position with a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by the manager. The location is based in Ashburn, VA, and relocation assistance may be available.
Responsibilities:
Interns will work on projects that enhance their skills in various areas related to AI/ML engineering, including:
• 5G Technology
• AR/VR and Computer Vision
• Logical Data Modeling: development tools & languages; Python, TenorFlow, Ansible, Jupyter
• Data Warehousing: DB/SQL, NoSQL
• Deep Learning: Natural language processing; computer vision, ontologies, speech analytics
• Machine Learning: anomaly detection, Bayesian statistics, causal inference, NLP, data. visualization, digital signal processing, dimensionality reduction techniques, ethics & fairness management, and reinforcement learning.
• Big Data Development: Hive, Impala, Spark, Kafka
• Cloud Solutions: experience with cloud infrastructure
• Visualization: Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Shiny
• API Integration
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree majoring in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related majors with a completion date between December 2026 and June 2028.
• Coursework or demonstrated experience in scripting and coding (ex: Python, Java).
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
• Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon office.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated strong written and communication skills.
• Experience in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
• Knowledge of deep learning (ex: CV models and other data models).
• Knowledge of API Integration, Integrating AI models with software development life cycle.
• Familiarity with AI/ML – Anomaly detection, Data Visualization Supervised and unsupervised learning, Deep learning networks, Natural Language Processing or Computer Vision, Recommender Systems, Python, and Software/ML tools.
