## CATERING INTERN – Harvard Business School:

This paid internship position offers valuable experience in the catering industry at Harvard Business School. As a Catering Intern, you’ll support the Sales and Operations teams, working closely with experienced managers to control and communicate event information and learn the intricacies of event execution.

Responsibilities:

• Answer phones, qualify requests for help, delegate tasks to appropriate managers, and ensure resolution is met.
• Be the first point of contact for guests arriving at the office, greeting them and directing them to their destinations.
• Manage the Catering email, detailing events as instructed by the Campus Catering Manager.
• Copy new and revised orders for distribution to relevant teams.
• Ensure the stewarding, staffing, and culinary teams receive all last-minute orders.
• Develop a thorough understanding of menu items and their online location.
• Create stickers and signage for events, as assigned by the Campus Catering Manager.
• Complete any additional projects assigned by the Campus Catering Manager.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of proper standard operating procedures for event execution.
• Learn the process for creating and pulling event equipment, reviewing staffing needs, steps of service, pre-service meetings, and basic staff development and training.
• Check in staff and ensure proper uniforms for larger events.

Advantages:

• Exposure to back-of-house operations, ordering, financials, scheduling, and stewarding for a well-rounded understanding of higher-level catering.
• Opportunity to utilize PowerPoint for presentations to groups of 35 or more.
• Experience collaborating with the Director of Catering on planning a large VIP event.
• Introduction to Outlook, Spoonfed, EMS, and Telestaff/Dimensions software.
• Training on ordering house linen, flowers, specialty linen, rentals, and kosher meals.
• Complimentary meals provided during the internship.

Job Summary:

This internship is paid but does not offer benefits such as medical, relocation, or housing.
