Job Description:

Job Title: Public Information Intern

Department: Department of Global Communications, Social Media Section, Communications Campaigns Service, Campaigns and Country Operations Division

Location: New York Headquarters (In Person)

Duration: 3-6 Months

Responsibilities:

Social Media Content Creation: Research, compile, draft, and edit information for social media content under tight deadlines.
Social Media Analytics: Monitor and analyze statistics related to social media content.
Social Media Content Gathering: Gather social media content at special events (film screenings, concerts, exhibits, etc.).
Original Content Creation: Assist in creating original content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp.
Meeting Attendance: Attend meetings as an observer, manage meeting agendas, and draft meeting notes.
Special Projects: Assist with special projects as assigned.

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with and/or interest in taking digital photographs
• Familiarity with Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and/or Adobe Photoshop (or graphic design programmes)

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
• OR Must be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
• Must be fluent in French.
• Knowledge of other UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) or Portuguese, Kiswahili, or Hindi is desirable.

• Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
• All costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
• The UN does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
