Job Description:

Process Engineer

This role is part of Ethicon’s Supply Chain Engineering team and focuses on process optimization and improvement within the manufacturing environment.

Location:

• Initially based at the San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico facility for approximately 3 months.
• Subsequently, the position will be permanently based at the Manatí, Puerto Rico facility.

Responsibilities:

Process Optimization: Optimize process output, throughput, equipment utilization, equipment downtime, waste reduction, and yield improvements.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to production areas for evaluating process deficiencies, changes, modifications, and equipment failure.
Problem Solving: Define, analyze, review, and evaluate problems for prompt solutions.
Project Management: Determine, adapt, and modify methods and standards to control all aspects of assigned projects.
Collaboration: Coordinate phases of work with other departments within the company and with other Ethicon divisions.
Non-Conformance Reporting: Conduct investigations and write NC reports following established timelines.
Cross-Functional Investigations: Coordinate and participate in Cross-Functional Investigations (CFI).
Production Metrics: Perform and evaluate Production Operation metrics for manufacturing and packaging areas.
Troubleshooting: Support manufacturing in day-to-day troubleshooting of equipment.
Root Cause Analysis: Lead mitigations to determine root cause, provide recommendations, and potentially lead NCR’s and CAPA.
Procedure Maintenance: Revise and maintain engineering, equipment, and process procedures.
GMP Audits: Participate in GMP audits regarding equipment recording and machine performance.
Process Development: Develop new ideas within incoming processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required).
• Experience in process improvement or maintenance engineering functions (highly preferred).
• College Hire (recently graduated Dec 2023 – May 2024) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least six (6) months of experience in the manufacturing regulated industry (considered).
• Experience with automated assembly and packaging equipment in the medical device manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Experience in developing manufacturing standards (a plus).
• Ability to work/visit all shifts and be flexible with holidays, irregular hours, and weekends (required).
• Fully Bilingual (Spanish/English) (required).
• Process Excellence (Green Belt or Black Belt) and Lean certifications (preferred).
• Advanced computer skills and use of software applications, including MS Office (required).
