Job Description

Apple is looking for a GPU Architect to join their Silicon Technologies group in San Diego, California. This role will involve designing and manufacturing the next generation of high-performance, power-efficient GPUs for Apple products and services.

As a lead GPU Micro-Architect, you will define the fundamental building blocks of the next generation Apple GPU. This is a highly visible role where you will be responsible for defining new micro-architectures and optimizing existing ones. You will collaborate with experienced architects, designers, and modelers and leverage your extensive experience to lead and mentor fellow micro-architects in creating best-in-class GPUs. You will also collaborate with the GPU micro-architecture team to improve processes and boost productivity.

The ideal candidate will have a BS degree and a minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience. They will also have experience specifying GPU micro-architectures, extensive knowledge of GPU architecture, and deep expertise in one or more focused GPU areas such as ISA development, core/shader micro-architecture, texture pipeline, caching, or memory subsystem design. Excellent communication, influence, and negotiation skills are essential, as well as the ability to work in an environment of uncertainty and through ambiguities. Proficiency in high performance, low power designs and VHDL/Verilog is also required.

Preferred qualifications include experience with GPU APIs, OpenGL, OpenCL, DirectX, Metal, proficiency in C/C++, and proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, and Ruby. Relevant hands-on experience with RTL or architectural modeling is also preferred.
