Job Description: Tax Intern (Commercial Japanese Practice)
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join their Commercial Japanese practice within Business Tax Services. This role offers a multifaceted experience with exposure to a wide range of tax services for Japanese-based companies.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting clients with a full spectrum of corporate tax services including compliance, planning, and research.
• Preparing corporate tax returns for Japanese-owned companies operating in the United States.
• Assisting with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740 and IAS 12) reported on financial statements.
• Working within a multi-disciplinary team to provide diverse tax services to Japanese-based companies.
• Building capabilities in key technologies relevant to tax professionals, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or an equivalent program.
• Preferred degrees/areas of study: Accounting and Taxation.
• Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the state where the office is located.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Bilingual in English and Japanese, with the ability to use both languages effectively in a business environment.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
• Demonstrated strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills, with a flexible and adaptable team player mentality.
• Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client premises as needed.
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship is preferred.
