Job Description:

KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join their KPMG Tax practice. This is an opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic team, working alongside specialists and leveraging cutting-edge technology in their “Ignition Centers”. You will gain valuable experience by:

Performing tax-related tasks: This includes compliance, advising, and planning for a diverse range of clients across different industries. You’ll work with multistate and multinational enterprises, including partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations.
Participating in data analytics assignments: You’ll utilize KPMG technology to create tax return work papers and returns, and coordinate with offshore resources.
Conducting tax due diligence: This involves identifying tax exposures and opportunities for clients.
Assisting multi-state companies: You will help with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and dealing with controversies.
Advising multinational enterprises: This involves assisting clients with key business decisions like location optimization, entity selection, supply chain management, and capital mobilization for global operations. You will also help with tax planning decisions, considering the multinational tax risk profile, global effective tax rate, and cash posture.
Collaborating as part of a multi-disciplinary team: You’ll work with various specialists, ensuring excellent client relationships.
Developing skills in key technologies: You will be exposed to and gain proficiency in technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI, which are essential for tax professionals today.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university: Pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or an equivalent program.
Preferred: Degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting and Taxation
Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure: Completion of academic credits is required before starting as a Tax Associate.
Upon completion of the internship: Candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above: Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
Demonstrated quality service mindset: Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and ability to navigate MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills: You should be a flexible and adaptable team player, resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
Ability to learn and navigate technologies: Experience with artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI is a plus.
Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office: Ability to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation (personal vehicle or public transportation).
Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed: May require travel with relatively short notice.
