KPMG Tax Internship Description
KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join their KPMG Tax practice. The internship offers a range of multifaceted engagements, formal training, and informal mentoring to develop your career.
Responsibilities:
• Perform tax-related tasks: This includes compliance, advising, and planning for various clients across industries, including multistate and multinational enterprises like partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations.
• Participate in data analytics assignments: This involves utilizing KPMG technology, creating tax return work papers and tax returns for clients, and coordinating offshore resources.
• Perform tax due diligence: Identify tax exposures and opportunities for clients.
• Assist multi-state companies: Handle state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, and resolving controversies.
• Advise multinational enterprises: Provide guidance on business decisions, such as location, entity choice, supply chain optimization, capital mobilization, and tax planning, ensuring consideration of a multinational tax risk profile, global effective tax rate, and cash posture.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams: Work on assignments and maintain excellent client relationships.
• Build key technological capabilities: Develop proficiency in technologies like AI, Alteryx, Power BI, and others that enhance tax professional client service delivery.
Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
• Preferred: Accounting and Taxation degrees/areas of study.
• Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the state where the office is located.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
• Demonstrated strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, quality service mindset, and proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Flexible and adaptable team player with resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
• Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to work locations using personal transportation or public transportation.
• Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises, potentially with short notice.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship.
