Job Description:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician Apprentice works under the guidance of senior personnel and fulfills all BMET Apprenticeship requirements outlined in AAMI’s BMET Apprenticeship Training Objectives Document. This role involves technical work in installing, maintaining, and repairing simple electromechanical diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices under the supervision of a mentor. Support is provided both on-site and remotely to hospitals, service centers, or within assigned territories.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze, troubleshoot, repair, and perform scheduled & corrective maintenance on simple electromechanical diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices using established electronic test and measurement equipment and techniques.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED (equivalent combination of education, experience, or military training may be accepted)
• Entry-level experience servicing clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital, clinic, or service environment (internship, employment, contractor, or Co-Op)
• Preferred Certifications: CABT, A+

Special Requirements:

• Adherence to all established BMET Apprenticeship standards, competencies, and learning requirements.
• Participation in internal and external educational programs to develop the necessary skills for independent work as a BMET I.
• Obtain CABT, CBET/CRES, and CEIT CompTIA certifications within a specified timeframe.
