Job Description

Chartwells Higher Education is hiring for a Marketing Intern position at Buffalo State University. This is an immediate hire with an online application process. The schedule is flexible and based on the intern’s class schedule and the company’s needs. The position pays $15.00 per hour.

The intern will work closely with the Marketing Manager to implement and promote the dining program at Buffalo State University through events, promotions, and social media. This involves researching the target market, planning and brainstorming, promotions and advertising through various platforms, and implementing the plans. The intern will be spearheading various projects and will be able to request assignments to expand their knowledge base. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in the field of marketing.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. They will have customer service experience and knowledge of social media platforms. The candidate should have good interpersonal skills and a general interest and knowledge of marketing. Knowledge of graphic design tools and prior marketing experience is a plus.

The intern will assist with planning, organizing, and hosting events. They will manage the Dining Services social media accounts and post content. The intern will brainstorm campaign ideas and create, manage, and promote engagement through social media contests and giveaways. They will assist in developing and promoting the social media calendar, act as a brand representative, conduct marketing audits, and perform general administrative tasks. The intern will also survey students to collect marketing research, create marketing materials to various specifications, manage signage in multiple locations, and assist with creating concepts, campaigns, and imagery to effectively communicate messages to the target market. They will manage website and social networking profile content and attend meetings and events as required.

The intern will gain the following learning objectives:

• Demonstrate awareness, understanding, and skills necessary to work in a diverse environment.
• Learn how to create and implement a marketing plan.
• Learn how to conduct market research and use it to generate a larger audience or increase buy-in.
• Learn how to use multiple platforms and strategies to effectively promote a brand.
