Job Description
Chartwells Higher Education is hiring immediately for a Sustainability Intern position at their Houston, TX location. The internship is open to undergraduate students and offers hands-on experience in the hospitality industry with a focus on sustainability. The position is paid $12.00 to $15.00 per hour and the schedule is flexible based on the intern’s class schedule and business needs.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry, a desire to learn about sustainability, and strong interpersonal skills. The intern will work closely with the leaders of the University of Houston Hospitality group, gaining valuable experience in operations, marketing, administration, guest services, problem resolution, innovation, and client relationships.
Key responsibilities may include:
• Researching and analyzing sustainable best practices
• Coordinating sustainable initiatives and visualizing the source of food
• Preparing metric-backed reports for Business Reviews
• Inputting operational data into reporting programs
• Managing financials and Food Recovery Network initiatives
• Executing operational standards
• Sharing metric-backed stories with reporting entities
• Working in various hospitality settings including front of house, back of house, catering, and administration
• Training dining team and students on sustainable initiatives
• Presenting findings in reports and presentations
