About the Job
UNC Health is seeking a Recreational Therapist to join their team at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The Recreational Therapist will provide a full range of services to patients, including assessment, therapeutic interventions, and discharge planning. The Recreational Therapist will also participate in various professional growth activities and mentorship intended to develop and improve patient care delivery and departmental performance.
Responsibilities
• Analyze comprehensive data from patient assessments and evaluations to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Develop and document patient discharge and transition plans.
• Document and report patient responses to interventions, and modify treatment plans as necessary.
• Implement individualized patient treatment plans and interventions to restore, remediate, or rehabilitate patient functioning and increase independence.
• Provide clinical education or supervision to staff, interns, and other disciplines.
• Participate in quality improvement and resource management activities.
• Respond to physician orders for patient assessment and treatment.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreational Therapy, which includes an internship.
• Licensed as a Recreational Therapist by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure (NCBRTL).
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
• Experience in hospital-based mental health therapy services is highly preferred.
• Experience with children and adolescent mental health is preferred.
