About the Job
CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Production Supervisor to join our Production Team, located in Evansville, Indiana.
Essential Functions
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the following:
• Manage a union workforce and ensure that employee work practices are aligned with company policies and department objectives
• Communicate effectively with the Production Supervisor, shift employees, and across all appropriate departments to remedy abnormal operating conditions
• Maintain a positive team environment and operate the plant in a safe and environmentally sound manner to meet the needs of the customer
• Solve operational problems in a safe and timely manner with available resources
• Track derates and remediate any issues resulting in derates/outages as applicable
• Optimize efficiency of plant processes and control production costs by monitoring the plant’s DCS system
• Enforce and monitor safety programs, policies, and practices
• Plan and manage employee scheduling
• Perform on-the-job training and develop the skills of employees to ensure competency
• Ensure compliance with FERC protocols
• Assign and ensure that production preventive maintenance work is completed on time
• Work a 12-hour rotating shift and work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required
• Work independently with engineers, peers, contractors, etc. to ensure that production activities are aligned with plant project goals
Qualifications
• Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years of power plant, industrial, or electric operations-related experience
• Leadership (internal or external) experience preferred
• Ability to successfully administer a union contract and settle grievances
• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Applications
• Ability to create documents, including procedures and instructions
• Ability to communicate complex instructions to team members
• Effective written and verbal skills to communicate with colleagues and customers
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and a rotating shift schedule
