About the Job
This Digital SmartFarm Intern position is a summer internship opportunity designed to provide a realistic job preview and lay the groundwork for future employment with the J.R. Simplot Company. The intern will support Digital Sales Advisors in their region and gain experience in various aspects of the company’s digital farming operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Installation and removal of soil moisture probes
• Tissue sampling
• Field moisture checks
• Data processing
• Learning SmartFarm water management software and Simplot Advisor software
• Other precision agriculture-related activities
Qualifications
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in AgriBusiness, Ag Economics, Precision Agriculture, or Agronomy
• Agriculture background preferred but not required
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
• Highly motivated and detail-oriented
• Proficient in computers, particularly Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent communication skills
Additional Information
• Sophomore or Junior year preferred but all years will be considered
• Remote position with some travel required
• Requires agricultural work hours which may include long days and occasional Saturdays
• Duration: May – August 2024, with potential to extend through the fall
