About the Job
Digital SmartFarm Intern
This role will work in the Lower Columbia Basin area, under the direction of Senior Digital Sales Advisor who leads technical support and digital sales for the integration of the company’s digital platform. The intern will gain valuable experience in managing soil moisture, taking soil and tissue samples, working with growers & crop advisors, and assisting in other precision agricultural projects being worked on over the summer.
Key Responsibilities
• Understanding the products and services provided by our digital team
• Communication and interaction with customers & crop advisors on water management, scouting, and other areas as needed
• As appropriate for the business: Installing moisture monitors, soil sampling, tissue sampling, scouting, GIS programs, and equipment maintenance
• Assisting experienced digital sales advisors/crop advisors/operations with crop activities which would include computer/app input of sampling, moisture monitoring data, and trials
• Participation in educational opportunities as identified and assigned by management
• Ability to operate 4-wheel drive and/or ATV vehicles off road or on farm roads
Typical Education
• Must be currently enrolled at a college/university majoring in an Agricultural Field
• Junior or Senior preferred
Relevant Experience
• Experience in the agricultural industry preferred
• Precision Ag experience a plus
• Experience in field scouting a plus
• Experience in permanent crops a plus
Required Certifications
• Valid Driver’s License
Other Information
• Preferred candidates will live locally to the Lower Columbia Basin area
• Junior or Senior preferred, but all years will be considered
• This position that will require travel using a company vehicle
• This position will require Ag hours which will include early mornings, long days and a potential for an occasional Saturday
• Duration: Full-time May – August 2024 with the potential to run through Fall
• There is the potential for this Internship to begin on a part-time basis immediately until school ends, then full-time for the summer
