About the Job

CenterPoint Energy is looking for an LCL949 Utility Person Meter Reader to join their MN American Meter Reading Operations A Team, located in Mankato, MN.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to read industrial, commercial, and residential meters by assigned routes and/or appointment ensuring an accurate monthly measurement of energy consumption.

Essential Functions:

• Verifies meter identification numbers and documents readings to assure timely and accurate billing of our customers’ energy consumption.
• Responds to internal and external customers’ requests, questions, and concerns in a manner that meets customer expectations.
• Partners with customer relations providing information and prompt resolutions to customer account and audit requests.
• Observes documents and communicates gas leaks, suspected gas theft, malfunctioning or damaged distribution system equipment, and other hazardous conditions to ensure customer and employee safety and compliance with company policy. 
• Participates in the continuous improvement of route/cycle structure.  Makes notes and changes location codes and data describing customer premises to help other meter readers perform their duties in a safe and more efficient manner.
• Performs other duties (when not reading meters) such as ERT/battery replacement, lock finals, special reads, meter glass/index replacement, painting meter loops, resolving difficult to read problems, mapping, obtaining keys, ACI work, or other functions to support gas distribution and service operations including but not limited to working with construction and maintenance crews. 
• Participates in training and cross-training to increase job knowledge and competency.

Education Description

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

Experience

Requires no prior work-related experience.
