About the Job

The Behavioral Health Practicum Student is a team-based role that requires a broad understanding of human behavior and theories of counseling. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of patient populations and presenting issues, and will need a foundation in a variety of treatment modalities.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs
• Develop treatment plans
• Implement treatment interventions
• Continually assess patients’ progress and revise treatment plans and interventions accordingly
• Document treatment sessions and provide patient progress updates to interdisciplinary team
• Educate patient support members about patient issues and interventions
• Refer for additional clinical services or to specialists, as needed
• Stay current on emerging issues in the profession

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a qualified college or university pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in the area of social work, psychology, counseling, or another degree in a behavioral health science
• Seeking internship or practicum placement within Sanford Behavioral Health as a requirement of the degree program
• No experience required, but preference will be given to individuals with work experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, substance use disorders, emotional disturbances, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities
