About the RN – Children’s Resource Team

The RN – Children’s Resource Team is a team of nurses who work in all areas of the Children’s Hospital, including Pediatrics, Pediatric Day Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The team fills unit needs that occur due to above average census or acuity, vacations, and medical leaves. The nurses on this team are flexible and intelligent, and their assignments can vary from day to day.

The team also fills the role of the Children’s Hospital Rescue Nurse, who responds to Pediatric Rapid Response, Pediatric Trauma Codes, and Pediatric Code Blues. The Children’s Rescue Nurse also provides Nitrous Oxide for pediatric procedures and acts as a resource for nurses providing direct patient care.

Job Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care to patients
• Collaborate with other inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate care
• Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge
• Care for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
• Plan and coordinate care, perform patient assessments, provide patient education, and triage patients
• Function within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program
• Currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring
• One year of RN experience required
