About the Job

Sanford Health is hiring an Associate Behavioral Health Counselor – Mobile Crisis in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. This is an on-call position with flexible scheduling, including overnights, weekends, and some holidays. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences or a related field, as well as experience working with individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or emotional disturbances.

The Associate Behavioral Health Counselor will assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and implement treatment interventions. The successful candidate will also continually assess patients’ progress and revise treatment plans and interventions accordingly. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team-based environment and stay current on emerging issues in the profession.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs

• Document treatment sessions
• Provide patient progress updates to interdisciplinary team
• Educate patient support members about patient issues and interventions
• Refer for additional clinical services or to specialists

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences or related field preferred
• Completion of a practicum or internship
• At least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with: mental illness, substance use disorders, emotional disturbances, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities
• OR
• Has at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and at least 2,000 hours of supervised work experience in the delivery of services to persons with: mental illness, substance use disorders, emotional disturbances, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities
