Staff Accountant | Arcwood Environmental

The Tone:
This is a full-time, onsite role at Arcwood Environmental, located in Joplin, MO. For over 50 years, Arcwood has responsibly managed waste byproducts, protecting people and the environment through innovative waste management technology. This position is critical for upholding the integrity of the company’s financial reporting and accounting operations. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in producing accurate financial information, maintaining strong controls, and supporting the Company’s commitment to sound fiscal management.

• Mission: This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting and accounting operations for Arcwood.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Core Accounting: Gain expertise across core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, cash application, and general ledger activities.
• Financial Close: Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement drafts.
• Statement Preparation: Prepare and review location-level financial statements and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
• Internal Controls: Maintain strong internal controls and ensure the accuracy of financial records across all operations.
• Financial Analysis: Contribute to annual budgeting, forecasting, and various financial analysis activities to support operational decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; Entry-Level career.
• Experience: Recent or upcoming college graduates encouraged to apply; 1+ years of experience in accounting preferred.
• Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, process improvement identification, and GAAP compliance.
• Bonus: CPA Certification.
