Assurance Intern – Summer 2027 (Omaha) | BDO USA
The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Omaha, NE. BDO provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world. This role is crucial for energetic self-starters to gain hands-on experience, apply their educational background in accounting, and build foundational relationships within the Assurance practice, helping clients navigate complexity and move forward with clarity.

• Team: Works within the Assurance practice, collaborating with audit teams and more experienced members.
• Mission: This person assists the audit staff with various stages of the audit process and becomes familiar with audit methodology and accounting principles.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Participates in structured training to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
• Audit Process: Becomes familiar with BDO specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Communication: Communicates with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepares and documents work in working papers utilizing BDO specific tools and templates.
• Research: Completes one assigned accounting or audit related research project and presents findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position; enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting.
• Experience: No years required; Leadership experience preferred.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong written and verbal communication, ability to follow instructions, and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Bonus: Pursuing a masters degree in Accounting, actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
