Staff Accountant | CSC Generation

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid Staff Accountant role at CSC Generation, located in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. CSC Generation’s Backcountry brand fosters a culture rooted in adventure and wellbeing, celebrating a lifestyle as bold as the terrain it loves. This role is critical in rebuilding Backcountry’s accounting team, taking ownership of core month-end close work and ensuring accurate financial operations across multi-channel platforms. You will be part of a lean team, making decisions with full end-to-end responsibility and directly impacting the close process from day one.

• Team: Reports to Senior Accountant (Richie Stevens, VP of Accounting, in the interim)
• Mission: Own core month-end close work, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations, ensuring accurate revenue and cash cycles across multi-channel platforms while identifying opportunities for automation.
• Tech Stack: NetSuite, Looker (preferred), Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as a key part of the monthly close checklist.
• Reconcile: Reconcile bank accounts, commercial card statements, and multi-channel customer payment platforms.
• Manage: Own the revenue and cash cycle across all payment channels, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately.
• Analyze: Pull and analyze NetSuite data for financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Improve: Identify and streamline manual processes using AI tools or automation within your first year.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with solid US GAAP fundamentals, including accruals and account reconciliations.
• Experience: 0 to 3 years of public or corporate accounting experience, including internships.
• Skills: Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets, strong written, verbal, and analytical skills, accuracy under tight deadlines with the ability to juggle multiple priorities during month-end close, and willingness to learn and curiosity about incorporating AI into accounting workflows.
• Bonus: Experience with Oracle NetSuite or another ERP system, public accounting background (audit or tax), multi-entity or consolidated accounting experience, exposure to Looker or other BI tools, and retail or e-commerce industry experience.
