Accountant I | PODS

The Tone:
This is a hybrid position at PODS, located in Clearwater, FL, requiring onsite presence three days per week at the company’s HQ. This Accountant I role is essential for ensuring accurate financial records and supporting robust internal controls. The successful candidate will play a key part in the month-end close process and contribute to the team’s overall financial reporting and compliance efforts. This position offers an opportunity for an early career professional to develop a foundational understanding of accounting principles within a corporate environment.

• Mission: To prepare accurate financial records, support general ledger activities, and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules across assigned accounts accurately, on time, and consistently.
• Account Analysis: Understand normal activity in your assigned areas, research reconciling items and unusual variances, and build a working understanding of account drivers and their connection to the business.
• Operational Support: Take on new account areas and responsibilities as readiness is demonstrated, and contribute reliably to ad hoc requests and projects as a responsive teammate.
• Internal Controls & Audit: Execute internal control procedures in your assigned areas, maintain clean and review-ready workpapers and documentation, and prepare supporting schedules for audit requests.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an associate’s degree combined with additional relevant experience.
• Experience: 0-2 years of accounting experience, including internships.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, basic knowledge of U.S. GAAP, analytical abilities, clear and direct communication, and a willingness to learn and ask questions.
