This is an Accounting Internship at Garney, located in Kansas City, MO, specifically for the 2027 Summer period. We specialize in vital infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater piping systems, concrete structures, and water treatment facilities for public, private, and industrial sectors. This role is designed to provide a currently enrolled college student with a unique opportunity to gather practical accounting knowledge from a construction company perspective, offering hands-on experience over a three-month period to convert classroom learning into valuable professional skills. • Mission: This person will gain comprehensive practical experience by learning about and assisting with critical Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes and procedures, while supporting other accounting functions and month-end closing activities within a dynamic construction company environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Receivable Support: Assist with the entry of Accounts Receivable pay applications.
• Audit Completion: Complete various job audits as required.
• Accounting Assistance: Provide support with other general accounting functions.
• Month-End Contribution: Support activities related to month-end closing processes.
• Journal Entry: Prepare journal entries.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level internship position for a currently enrolled college student seeking to gain accounting knowledge, available for class credit.
• Experience: No specific prior work experience is required, but candidates should possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Skills: A basic understanding of core accounting principles and procedures.
• Bonus: Candidates currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another related field are preferred, and a great attitude coupled with a strong willingness to learn from seasoned professionals in the construction industry is highly valued.
