This Sr Legal Counsel, Privacy role is critical for providing expert, pragmatic, and solution-oriented legal advice to enable PayPal’s business strategy, actively participating in complex problem resolution, managing high-stakes issues, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, thereby safeguarding PayPal’s legal interests and contributing to global process improvements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Advisory: Provide clear, pragmatic, and solution-oriented legal advice to enable business strategy across the enterprise while proactively managing legal risk inherent in PayPal’s global operations.
• Problem Resolution: Actively participate in complex problem resolution and high-stakes issues, offering expert legal advice to guide decision-making and mitigate potential adverse outcomes.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure PayPal’s operations and initiatives are in full compliance with relevant laws and regulations in all applicable jurisdictions, developing a comprehensive understanding of current business trends.
• Cross-functional Partnership: Partner effectively with business counterparts across various departments within the enterprise to foster collaboration and drive the delivery of efficient and effective legal services.
• Risk Management: Manage legal risks systematically and safeguard PayPal’s legal interests by developing and implementing comprehensive risk management frameworks and escalating highly complex issues to senior legal leadership when appropriate.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior-level legal counsel with a Juris doctorate degree, focusing on privacy.
• Experience: 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Skills: Expertise in legal advisory and counsel, demonstrated ability in complex legal problem resolution, strong background in regulatory and legal compliance, proficient in developing and implementing legal risk management frameworks.
