Commercial Banking & Wealth Management Leadership Development Program | Busey

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Busey, located in Champaign, IL. Busey is a 150+ year-old financial institution with a relationship-focused culture, committed to delivering service excellence through its Commercial Banking and Wealth Management business lines. This program is designed to develop strong associates who understand customer needs and can deliver compelling strategies and solutions through a personalized, holistic review of the client, ultimately developing future client-facing relationship and advisory professionals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Participate in a structured credit training program to understand credit products, lending practices, and financial analysis.
• Work on live commercial loan requests alongside commercial lenders serving customers in various industries across Busey’s footprint.
• Earn the Wealth Management Specialist (WMS) designation through a structured training program.
• Gain a deep understanding of the financial planning process, including data gathering, analyzing and writing summary statements, and presenting to clients and prospects.
• Rotate through various departments, including commercial relationship and treasury management, wealth and fiduciary advisors, operations, IT, risk, and finance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Financial Planning & Services, or other business-related graduate. This is an early career program for individuals interested in working in the Commercial Lending and Wealth Management industries.
• Experience: Participation in community or school-based organizations or equivalent work experience. Flexibility to travel within Busey’s markets is required.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; self-motivated and competitive with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy; strong organization and time management; basic/intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Bonus: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred. Ability to grow a balanced network and build relationships across the organization.
