The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid internship at Vail & Park, P.C., based in Dallas, TX, offering the flexibility to complete some tasks remotely. The firm provides a comprehensive suite of services, including financial statement audits, tax compliance, bookkeeping, and specialized advisory services like Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) assessments. This intern role is integral to supporting the firm’s diverse client base, offering a hands-on learning experience that emphasizes professional growth and client-focused work within a supportive team environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Support: Assist with basic accounting and bookkeeping tasks for various client engagements.
• Engagement Documentation: Support audit and review engagements by performing data entry and documentation.
• Workpaper Preparation: Help prepare detailed workpapers under the direct guidance of senior accounting staff.
• Client Record Management: Organize and maintain client financial records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Research & Compliance: Conduct research related to accounting, tax, and assurance topics, and assist in preparing simple tax forms and schedules.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Basic proficiency with spreadsheets and financial data. Demonstrated interest in accounting, auditing, and tax, preferably evidenced by coursework or relevant projects. Proficiency with common office software, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative abilities for processing financial data. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of documentation, recordkeeping, and data entry. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential for collaborating with team members and interacting with clients under supervision. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and consistently adhere to established procedures and professional standards.
• Bonus: Preferred experience includes coursework or relevant projects specifically in accounting, assurance, or tax. Familiarity with accounting or tax software is a plus. Candidates with eligibility for or interest in CPA licensure are especially beneficial.
