The Tone:
This is a full-time Staff Accountant role at Tecta America Commercial Roofing, located in Mankato, Minnesota. Tecta America is the leading commercial roofing company in the U.S., comprising 4,500 professionals across 100+ locations. This role is crucial for supporting the Midwest Regional Finance team, offering hands-on experience in financial reporting, project accounting, and tax compliance, contributing directly to the financial accuracy and operational efficiency of multiple business units. The TL;DR

• Location: In-person Mankato, MN (with approximately 25% regional travel)
• Pay: $65000–$85000 yearly
• Team: Midwest Regional Finance team, reporting to the Regional Controller and supporting multiple operating unit teams.
• Mission: To ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across multiple business locations within the Midwest region through comprehensive accounting support.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office applications, ERP/accounting software systems (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Month-End Close: Manage monthly and annual close activities for multiple operating units, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting packages, analyzing results and investigating variances related to forecasts and prior periods.
• Project Accounting: Participate in project review meetings, analyze cost-to-complete estimates, and adjust project budgets to support accurate percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Compliance & Audit: Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation, and prepare and file payroll tax and sales/use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
• Operational Support: Provide support, training, and backup assistance to operating unit admin and accounting personnel, and assist the Regional Controller in improving processes and controls.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience: At least one year of accounting experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent organizational skills, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: Construction, project, or job-cost accounting experience; experience with ERP/accounting software systems; multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience; experience with Payroll, AP, AR, Inventory, or other accounting areas; experience with payroll tax and sales/use tax compliance.
