Assurance Intern | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Charlotte, NC. BDO is an employee-owned company providing assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world. • Mission: Contribute to client service by assisting in problem-solving and fact-finding, while utilizing educational background and organizational skills within BDO’s Assurance practice, working alongside experienced team members.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Training & Standards: Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, and BDO’s specific audit methodology.
• Support: Provide various support functions to the audit staff during engagement.
• Communication: Communicate with the clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and document work in working papers utilizing BDO specific tools and templates.
• Contribution & Research: Contribute ideas and opinions to the audit teams, listening and responding to other team members’ views, and complete one assigned accounting or audit related research project with findings presented to a panel of Assurance professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting; Entry-Level.
• Experience: No prior experience required; leadership experience preferred.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow instructions as directed; ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Bonus: Pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting; actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA; positive attitude and willingness to learn.
