Corporate Accounting Specialist – Accounting – Intern | Farm Credit Services of America

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Operations: Assist with monthly and quarterly close activities, including processing journal entries, completing key validations, and conducting analytical reviews, while ensuring accurate processing, account classifications, and timely issue resolution.
• Subledger Maintenance: Support Accounting teammates in maintaining various subledgers and ensuring the accuracy of amortization schedules for items such as fixed assets, leases, and prepaid accounts.
• Payroll Accounting: Perform payroll and benefits accounting processes for the Associations by analyzing data files generated by Farm Credit Foundations to provide reasonable assurance that entries are accurate.
• Financial Reporting & Controls: Support the Financial Reporting team by assisting with documentation of monthly reconciliation processes and analysis of Call Report information, and aid the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) team with control inquiries, process walkthroughs, and documentation of key financial controls.
• Ad-Hoc Projects: Collaborate with Leadership in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business, Banking, Finance, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Experience: Entry-level, available for a 12-week internship during the summer to gain hands-on experience supporting core general ledger functions.
• Skills: Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Farm Credit Administration (FCA) regulations, and IRS requirements.
