Corporate Accounting Specialist – Reporting – Intern | Farm Credit Services of America

The Tone:
This is an internship at Farm Credit Services of America, located in Omaha, NE. AgCountry, FCSAmerica, and Frontier Farm Credit are financial cooperatives that operate under shared management across eight states, pooling resources and expertise. Together, they provide affordable credit, crop insurance, and financial services to local farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses. This role is crucial in supporting the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial and regulatory reporting across these associations.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship

• Location: In-person Omaha, NE
• Mission: Ensure financial and regulatory reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP, FCA regulations, bank requirements, and internal controls.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting Review: Assist with first-line reviews of monthly financial statements, quarterly and annual shareholder reports, FCA Call Reports, Board reports, and related supporting schedules.
• General Ledger Reconciliation: Prepare and/or review daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger balance sheet reconciliations, researching discrepancies and coordinating timely resolution.
• External Reporting Support: Assist with AgriBank quarterly information requests and CoBank Frontier CMR reporting to ensure accurate data submission.
• Financial Analysis: Complete variance, materiality, and ad hoc analyses of financial results, and support the development of PCA/FLCA allocations as needed.
• Patronage Program Assistance: Perform analysis and other work to support the Associations’ annual patronage programs.
• Process Improvement: Recommend and assist with process improvements, reporting-system enhancements, and updates or modifications to accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Audit Support: Support internal and external audit activities, including fulfilling documentation requests, assisting with remediation of deficiencies, and contributing to fraud-control initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business, Banking, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
