Accounting Intern | Niles Enterprises

The Tone:
This is an internship at Niles Enterprises, located in Fenton, MI. Niles Enterprises is a growing industrial services organization focused on unlocking potential while protecting critical assets. This role is crucial for an intern to gain hands-on experience in day-to-day accounting, understand financial processes, and contribute to month-end close activities, all while building practical business experience and embracing the company’s core values of Care, Trust, and Help.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person Fenton, MI
• Team: Works with the Accounting team
• Mission: Supports the Accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities, reporting, reconciliations, and special projects.
• Tech Stack: Vista, Spreadsheet Server, Excel, Microsoft Office applications

What You’ll Actually Do
• Perform account reconciliations and general ledger reviews.
• Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting activities.
• Manage cash entries, banking activities, and Positive Pay processes.
• Contribute to month-end close activities and financial reporting.
• Analyze and organize accounting data using Vista, Spreadsheet Server, and Excel.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field, with a basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Experience: No specific prior experience required.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications; strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or office experience preferred; experience with ERP or accounting software preferred.
