Staff Accountant | Ares Management

The Staff Accountant will ensure key financial processes are completed accurately and efficiently, directly supporting the business and team.

• Mission: Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of day-to-day property accounting functions to support the business operations.
• Tech Stack: Yardi, AvidXchange, Microsoft Office (Excel)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tenant Billing & Reconciliation: Generate all tenant charges including direct bills, late fees, and one-time charges, while also maintaining accurate aging reports and applying tenant credits.
• Financial Record Management: Review daily cash receipts and accounts payable for accuracy, working in close collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Specialist to ensure completeness.
• Month-End Close Activities: Execute comprehensive month-end journal entries, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, and complete bank reconciliations.
• Reporting & Analysis: Compile detailed monthly financial statements and reporting packages, encompassing both monthly and yearly Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations.
• Operational & Budget Support: Correspond directly with Third-Party Property Managers regarding property operations and actively assist in the preparation of the yearly budget.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a strong academic record, demonstrating core knowledge of accounting principles for recording entries, analyzing information, and making deductions.
• Experience: Possess 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
• Skills: Exhibit strong analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to self-manage, problem-solve, and multi-task efficiently to meet challenging deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly strong Excel skills, is required.
• Bonus: Prior experience using Yardi and/or AvidXchange is preferred.
