Finance Co-op -Intern | Gorton’s

The Tone:
This is an internship position at Gorton’s, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Gorton’s is a company with over 175 years of history, dedicated to making quality seafood accessible to everyone. This role is crucial for an intern looking to gain foundational experience, contributing to core financial operations within either the Customer Finance or Financial Accounting departments, and developing an understanding of how finance functions within a national brand.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person Gloucester, MA
• Pay: $20–$25 hourly
• Team: Contributes to Customer Finance or Financial Accounting teams, collaborating with Marketing, Sales, Operations, IT, and Logistics.
• Mission: Support financial operations and reporting, developing a foundational understanding of various finance activities within Gorton’s.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contribute to Finance Operations: Actively participate and support daily activities within either the Customer Finance or Financial Accounting areas of the company.
• Assist Customer Financials: Support the Customer Finance team in overseeing the financial transactions between Gorton’s and its large retail grocery chain customers across the United States and Canada.
• Support Accounting Functions: Contribute to various Financial Accounting responsibilities, which include financial reporting, audit, cash management, treasury, cost accounting, inventory audit, and accounts payable.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely and interact effectively with other internal functional areas such as Marketing, Sales, Operations, Information Technology, and Logistics.
• Develop Financial Acumen: Gain valuable exposure and develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse financial activities and processes operating within Gorton’s.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree Candidate majoring in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field, with a career interest in Corporate Finance and/or Accounting.
• Experience: Entry-level position for students.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to work independently, outstanding attention to accuracy and detail, solid written and verbal communication skills, initiative and a self-starter mindset, solid PC skills, and the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of people.
• Bonus: Prefer students completing their Junior year of their Bachelor’s Degree.
