The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Busey, located in Champaign, IL. Busey is a 150-year-old financial institution focused on Commercial Banking and Wealth Management, dedicated to fostering relationships and delivering personalized financial solutions. This role is crucial for developing future leaders who can drive value, understand customer needs, and create meaningful impact within these key business lines. The program offers an intensive 24-month rotational training track designed to provide foundational skills and specialized insights into the financial industry.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Credit Experience: Develop an understanding of credit products, lending practices, and financial analysis by working on live commercial loan requests alongside commercial lenders across Busey’s footprint.
• Wealth Management Experience: Earn the Wealth Management Specialist (WMS) designation and gain a deep understanding of the financial planning process, including data gathering, analysis, and presenting to clients.
• Curriculum Rotations: Participate in structured rotations across Commercial Banking (relationship/treasury management, service support, compliance, loan review, special assets) and Wealth Management (advisors, portfolio management, investment/retirement plan services, private client managers, compliance teams).
• Departmental Exposure: Be introduced to the company’s products, services, and processes through rotations in personal banking and various back-office functions like operations, IT, risk, and finance.
• Relationship Building: Grow a balanced network and build relationships across the organization to foster deeper enrichment and understanding of all bank functions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Financial Planning & Services, or other business-related field. Career level: Entry-Level. Candidates should have a keen interest in working within the Commercial Lending and Wealth Management industries.
• Experience: Participation in community or school-based organizations or equivalent work experience. Flexibility to travel within Busey’s markets, including Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Florida.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; self-motivation and competitiveness with high attention to detail and accuracy; strong organization and time management skills; basic/intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn Busey’s core systems.
• Bonus: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
